"The MyLifeBits project aims to put all personal documents and media online, to allow time-shifting, and location independence when you are connected to MyLifeBits. Gordon Bell has captured 10 gigabytes of articles, books, cards, CDs, letters, memos, papers, photos, pictures, presentations, home movies, videotaped lectures, and voice recordings and stored them digitally. One of the challenges of this project is to encourage people to take their personal memorabilia out of the shoebox and store them online. The technical challenge is ensuring that this information will be readable by future devices.We are building software to support MyLifeBits, beginning with a MyLifeBits Server that can support capture, storage, and management of personal media, including: TV with Web enchancement, radio, personal music collections, and home video.(...)"

"Das Technologie-Zentrum Informatik der Universität Bremen (TZI) beschäftigt sich schon seit längerer Zeit mit dem Thema der mobilen Informationsverarbeitung. Der Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf den Potentialen von Wearable Computing in industriellen Anwendungen. Eine wichtige Aufgabe in diesem Zusammenhang ist die Auseinandersetzung mit Aspekten, die das große Innovationspotential neuartiger mobiler Technologien deutlich offenlegen und wirtschaftlich verwertbar machen. Wearable Computing berührt Disziplinen wie z.B. Ingenieurs-, Sozial-, Arbeits-, Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Psychologie, Kognitionsforschung und viele Bereiche der Informatik, aber auch Design, Bekleidungstechnik usw. Um das Thema breit und interdisziplinär bearbeiten zu können, hat das TZI das [wearLab] initiiert, das als themenzentrierte institutsübergreifende Forschungsgruppe vorhandene Kompetenzen bündeln und anbieten soll.
