Robert Spence
In 1995, twelve eminent engineering designers were asked for their visions regarding the way engineering design would be carried out 25 years later, in the year 2020. The visions were presented via a video showing a dinner party taking place in the year 2020, during which leading engineering designers of that year describe how they undertake design. One common vision had to do with the visualization of data, using large displays, collaborative working and the use of sound to encode data.

» UBICOMP Video List/ MIT Media Lab
Now Showing: Inspirational UBICOMP Videos
This is a list of (hopefully!) inspirational videos showing ubiquitous computing interfaces. Some of the videos simply show visions of what the future could hold (e.g. from major computer companies), and others show working prototype systems built in laboratories. If you have additional suggestions for this list (and particularly if you can provide a contact for locating the video clip), please contact me. This list was originally inspired by the UBICOMP 2002 Video Program. These videos were first shown shown for Movie Making: Inventing the Future of Ubiquitous Computing IAP activity.
